Island Park and Henry's Lake

This past weekend was really great. We went fishing on Henry's Lake and joy riding on Island Park Reservoir. On Saturday evening we went out Island Park and it was beautiful. Mom took tons of pictures of the sunset, this cute barn and the trees that were turning.

Saturday evening we had the perfect fire. You couldn't smell any of the smoke.

On Sunday morning we went fishing and caught five fish.

The fish in the cooler, we didn't have the bucket.
All the fish in for show.
Kenzie's fish (I claimed the small one).

Dad's fish, though they discolored with out any water.
On Monday morning we caught five more fish.

Dad's one, mine and Kenzie's two each!

Rough Waters

While on the reservoir we saw the cutest blue helicopter!

Here Comes Thursday

So a lot has happened over the last little while, I have now become the Neighborhood babysitter. I am babysitting 3 days this week so far that I know of. Then there is Thursday, Jessi gets her wisdom teeth out, 3 of them. So Sam and I have been teasing her that on Thursday there is going to be pulling, twisting, cutting, yanking, prodding, and last of all horrible bruising, and pain!!! SO we are both super excited since this is her first big surgery. She seems to not be horribly nervous but then it is not Thursday yet. I hope all goes well so she won't be super scared of surgery. Oh wait, just a second there it comes what is that I see? HA HA it's her nerves they finally just shot!!! But still it will all be fine, I wish her luck along with the rest of the family!! :O)

Jessi's Latest Happenings

It has been a while since I have put anything out on the family blogs. Halloween to be exact. Well where to start? There are only 23 school days left..... just over a month if you count weekends. The end is in sight. My students and I can't wait for summer vacation to start! We just had our final dance of the school year last night and I was a chaperon. No let me rephrase that I was the chaperon and there was a mom there watching her two boys. And no there wasn't only 10 kids there, there was 40 which is half the school. I have been to more dances as a chaperon than I ever went to in high school.

The main reason I can't wait for school to be out is cause I have two fabulous trips planned for this summer one to Washington DC and the other is to Boston!! And the best part is I don't have to pay for the one to DC and only have to pay a portion of the one to Boston. I am so excited to go back to Washington DC in June for 5 days and this time I get to take two students with me. I must apologize to them ahead of time cause when in DC I turn into a REAL NERD! (They seem to think I am already a Nerd.) I am still not sure what we are going to be doing while we are there, but they should be fun. I heard a rumor that we are going to go to Colonial Williamsburg and I am excited cause I haven't been there before. I don't get to go to Boston until the middle part of July, but I am super excited to go, I have always dreamed of going and so now I am! I get to stay in a historic hotel in Concord.... the starting place of the Revolutionary War. (I guess I am maybe just a little bit of a Nerd!) The only scary part of this trip is I get to ride Boston's subway all by myself..... and then switch to a train to get to Concord. The only reason this is scary is cause I hate doing it with luggage, otherwise I am fine.

Now you are all caught up on what I have been doing with my time since Halloween minus all the boring details like hitting a deer, taking students on two different field trips to SLC and not killing them all! The last one is a feat in and of itself...... three hours each direction with a bus full of kids. Each time I take students in to the city I am amazed at the fact how little they know about SLC. The first time they had to play in the revolving door and slid down the banister at the Capitol Building and then the second time they screamed out quote " There are taxis in SLC". We have to get the kids out more!

Honey Christensen

Honey Christensen is the newest member of our family. We rescued her from the Upper Valley Humane Society on Friday (April 2). She was declawed on Monday. She is adjusting nicely to no claws. Mom said it was a must to declaw her with the leather furniture. Here are some pictures of her lounging on Kenzie's bed.

The Secret Journal of Brett Colton By: Kay Lynn Mangum

This book was amazing. A great convert story. To learn more visit Kay Lynn.

Kathy Colton can’t stand her brother, Brett. Her family talks as if he were perfect! All Kathy knows for sure is that Brett is dead. He died of leukemia when he was sixteen and she was only two. But when Kathy turns sixteen, she discovers her brother’s hidden journal – a journal written especially for her - and learns about the brother she never knew. At the same time, Kathy is mortified by an assignment to tutor the popular high school quarterback Jason West, a football jock who, even worse, is a Mormon. Author Kay Lynn Mangum brilliantly weaves the dual stories of a dying brother and a coming-of-age sister who learn the importance of loving our family and our friends and nurturing our faith.

Sweetheart

Kenzie and her date Brandon.

Kenzie's group.
Top Row: Stacy Haroldsen, Ryan Arave, TJ Stommel, Bailey Struchen, Preston Nelson and Randee Call.
Front Row: Brandon Cox, Kenzie, Adi Young and Austin.

Kenzie's corsage.

We still can't agree on a color for Kenzie's dress. The dress, shoes, necklace and earing all came from Maurices. The jacket came from Dillards though she did get a jacket from Maurices on that same trip. Not including the second jacket eveything came to less than $100. SCORE!!!

The boys were blind folded before they went to McDonald's for breakfast.
L to R: Ryan Arave, Preston Nelson, Brandon Cox (yes that says Major Princess) and TJ Stommel.

Will You Be My Sweetheart?

On February 13 Kenzie will attend her first high school dance. She will be going to Sweetheart with Brandon Cox. Some people go to extreme lengths to ask their date to the dance but Kenzie kept it simple and sweet.
See for yourself:
